More than a dozen years after the passage of NAFTA what are the impacts of a free trade agreement between a developing country and the world’s largest economy? This was a ten-day delegation, where we experienced, first hand how U.S. economic policies impact Mexicans and “push” them to cross the border illegally. We now better understand the role corporate globalization has on the indigenous community. We will be in Mexico during a pivotal time. The Zapatista-initiated “Other Campaign” just ended and the Presidential elections happened. This delegation was exciting, educational, and most of all, transformational.
